Successful projects using illustrated maps:
London-based hospitality group »Ceviche Family« wanted to show, how their restaurants are rooted in the local communities and encourage their patrons to explore the neighborhood around their restaurants. So they asked me to create illustrated maps for their magazine, »La Yapa«.
Penguin Books’ »Shinrin Yoku« explores the Japanese practice of Forest Bathing. To help their readers get a sense of the most impressive forests around the world I created two watercolor maps.
Peruvian chef Martin Morales’ second cookbook is all about the Andes. Because most readers would have a hard time understanding where the individual dishes come from, he asked me to create an illustrated Map of Peru highlighting the different regions of the Andes.
As the Covid-19 pandemic halted international travel I created these illustrated maps of major cities around the world as a way to escape the confines of home, at least in your imagination. In the end, the series included San Francisco, New York, Amsterdam, London, Lima, Marrakech, Lisboa, Tokyo, Leipzig, and others.
The illustrated map in London chef Cynthia Shanmugalingam’s first cookbook »Rambutan: Recipes from Sri Lanka« showcases Sri Lanka’s most important sights and local dishes.
