Caleta Dolsa

There are countless restaurants, bars and cafes in the Barranco district of Lima. A particularly nice cafe and one of my favorite places for good coffee in Lima is “Caleta Dolsa”.

The “Caleta Dolsa” cafe is not only cozy and beautifully designed, it also serves really good breakfast and great coffee. The coffee beans mostly come from the north of Peru and are freshly roasted in an adjoining room in the cafe in Lima. Which is also why the cafe uses the slogan “Caleta Dolsa - Coffee Roasted by the Sea” on its menus and merch t-shirts. During our stay in Lima we came here a few times for coffee or breakfast. In addition to the coffee specialties, the fresh juices, the sandwiches and especially the delicious smoothie bowls are amazing! Because the cafe itself is quite small, it can always happen (especially on weekends) that it is booked out. Fortunately, there is a small park with lots of benches right next to the “Caleta Dolsa” café, where you can enjoy your coffee or smoothie bowl to go as well. Even though the “Caleta Dolsa” café is a bit more expensive than other coffee places in Lima, I can highly recommend having breakfast there at least once.

Good to know: The coffee beans roasted there are not only used inhouse, but are also sold as packed and sealed coffee that comes with beautifully illustrated labels and are a great souvenir from Lima.
