Lima
Demo
Friday, February 2

Although there are of course many beautiful cafes in Barranco, Lima, our absolute favorite cafe/bistro ever there is called “Demo”. Christoph and I discovered “Demo” quite by chance on one of our walks through the Barranco neighbourhood which is where our Airbnb was located.

The best Peruvian food you can get is of course when you are invited to a Peruvian family's home and get to enjoy some home cooked meal. Since this is not so easy to manage for most tourists who travel to Peru, I always recommend the Panchita restaurant in Lima's tourist district of Miraflores. This is the perfect place to make yourself familiar with Peruvian food.
Barranco

The city of Lima is a huge city with millions of inhabitants and consists of 43 districts. The individual districts are very different in terms of architecture, infrastructure and safety. Christoph and I visited a lot of districts during our stay and regularly visited friends in the very south or north of the city. This time we decided to rent an apartment in the more touristy district of Barranco, as there are many cute cafes and restaurants here and you can walk straight to the sea.

Nowadays Peru is internationally known for its amazing food. Food is very important in Peruvian culture and Peruvians are understandably proud of the many delicious dishes and ingredients, fruit and veggies that the country has to offer.
Alanya Repostería

In the more touristy areas of Lima, there are now countless hip, modern cafes and patisseries. We had the most expensive, but also the most delicious pastries in the “Alanya” cafe.
