Demo

Although there are of course many beautiful cafes in Barranco, Lima, our absolute favorite cafe/bistro ever there is called “Demo”. Christoph and I discovered “Demo” quite by chance on one of our walks through the Barranco neighbourhood which is where our Airbnb was located.
We immediately noticed the beautiful, one-story building with the interesting tiled floor. Through the window we saw a counter with a big café style coffee machine on it and it was clear that the building had to be a nice coffee place. When we tried to go in straight away, we were kindly informed by an employee that the cafe had already closed and that we should come by another time. So the "Demo" cafe was on our Lima to-do list for a few days. Finally, we managed to have breakfast there on the weekend and it was even better than expected. We really loved the modern and clean interior design of the cafe, there was a counter full of freshly baked goods and we could hardly decide what to order because everything on the menu sounded so good. As unfortunately we weren’t that hungry we ended up ordering cappuccinos and a croissant and sandwich to share. While we waited for our breakfast, we watched the kitchen staff carefully plate one order after another. Shortly after, our order was brought to the table and I had never seen such a perfect croissant in my life (not even in France)! The cappuccinos were very good, the croissant was the crispiest and butteriest I have ever eaten and the sandwich was also the perfect combination of different flavors and textures. It was clear at that point that the “Demo” Lima was not just any breakfast cafe, but that the dishes here were designed and prepared to the highest standard. We’ll definitely come back here whenever we are back in Lima.
