Café Fútbol

One of my all time favorite things to do in Spain for me is eating “Chocolate con churros”. A plate full of freshly fried dough sticks, which you then dip into thick hot chocolate. And the best part: in Spain this is considered breakfast – what more could you ask for?!
As this breakfast is really common in Spain, it’s usually quite easy to find a cafés that offers chocolate con churros. While many of the cafés in Granada’s city center advertise their chocolate and churros with big posters and thus attract most tourists, there are just as many places a few streets away from the city center that offer chocolate con churros that aren’t that crowded and usually just visited by locals. It’s quieter there, the prices are better and the churros are often even tastier.
When I was researching online where to find the best chocolate con churros in Granada, an inconspicuous sports bar/café a few minutes from my apartment was mentioned very often. A football cafe where all sorts of football matches are broadcast and people can enjoy fresh churros while they watch. Since I’m not into football at all, I was a bit critical at first, but then I decided to go there anyway as I wanted to try their chocolate con churros and let me tell you: it was so worth it! The bar itself was nothing like what I imagined a typical sports bar would be like. Instead of the dark interior I expected, I found a really nice, bright café with small TVs hanging here and there. Even for me as a non-football fan, this place was just cozy and the TVs and football matches didn’t bother me at all. We ordered some chocolate con churros to share, which later turned out to be a very smart decision – the plate of hot, freshly fried churros was huge. Dipped into a cup of steaming dark chocolate was just incredible!
