Pan de la Chola
Thursday, January 18
Unlike in other Latin American cities where we stayed during our trip, it has been surprisingly easy to buy amazing sourdough bread in Lima. One of the first bakeries to offer high quality sourdough bread loaves and pastries in Lima was “Pan de la Chola”.
The bakery “Pan de la Chola” was so successful with its large selection of different sourdough breads and pastries that they were able to open several new bakeries across the city. “Pan de la Chola” is THE place to go for anyone looking for really good bread in Lima. “Pan de la Chola” is now much more than just a bakery – some branches now have large seating areas and also serve as hip coffee places and restaurants where you can have breakfast (with homemade bread, of course). The founders of the “Pan de la Chola” have now also opened their second concept: “Pizza de la Chola”, which serves homemade, high-quality pizza. Since there is no Pan de la Chola branch in our district of Lima (Barranco), we unfortunately were not able to visit the bakery as much as we had hoped. Nevertheless, whenever we did manage to visit, we were always impressed by the selection and of course the taste of the loaves of bread, sandwiches and pastries and can highly recommend visiting Pan de la Chola.
