Hierro

One day, while walking in the area around our apartment in Buenos Aires, we discovered the restaurant "Hierro." Typically Argentinian, the restaurant specialized in meat.
When we were walking down our street we saw that the restaurant was also open for lunch and offered special lunch menus. Since "Hierro" was very close to our apartment, we decided to try the restaurant during our next lunch break. We sat down at one of the many small tables on the street and enjoyed the warm sun. The lunch menu was surprisingly inexpensive, a full three-course menu with an appetizer (grilled eggplant and cherry tomatoes), a main course (grilled pork), and dessert (strawberries with vanilla cream).
The appetizer was a super delicious, huge grilled eggplant with bread and dip, which almost filled me up on its own. After our appetizer plates were cleared, I quickly went to the restroom in the restaurant. When I came back to our table on the terrace a few minutes later, our main course was just being served. When I saw what was on our plate, I was shocked. I hadn't expected such a huge piece of meat. I sat down at the table next to Christoph, we waited until our waiter left, and then we both burst out laughing. We were so shocked by the oversized pork ribs that were on our plates. Before we came to Argentina, we had often heard the cliché about meat-loving Argentinians. Now, being in Argentina ourselves, we can confirm that they really do eat a lot of meat. We started on our main course and were delighted! It was probably the tastiest pork we had ever eaten. The meat was served with fresh chimichurri (a typical Argentinian herb paste) and coarse, spicy mustard. Both went perfectly with the pork. There were no other side dishes, but why should there be—there was plenty of meat! As delicious as the food was, Christoph and I both couldn't finish our food, so we had the rest (and both desserts) packed up to take home and enjoyed the leftovers from our delicious lunch that evening.
The meat, as well as the vegetarian starters and desserts, were delicious at Hierro. So delicious, in fact, that we returned for dinner a few days later. The second time, however, we already knew how much food and meat we would be eating and arrived extra hungry for our dinner reservation.
