Typica

Although La Paz is a big city, the coffee culture there isn't quite as developed as we’d experienced it in other South American cities. So at first we had some difficulty finding a café that served good espresso and cappuccino.
After some research (both in person in La Paz and online), we discovered the “Typica” café. Conveniently, the café was located just a few blocks away from our apartment in La Paz. The café's website said that the Typica café owner works directly with local coffee farmers and roasts its own coffee. We were thrilled and walked there the very next day after work. What's special about the Typica café is that it's not just a room or floor in a larger building, but the entire building is actually the coffee place. The building is a small urban villa which is beautiful. You can move around the building completely freely and choose your preferred spot to sit down and sip your coffee on the two floors and many different rooms. Just finding a place to sit down was a lot of fun, as each room was decorated with unique vintage furniture and wallpaper, and there were so many cozy spots in the house that it was hard to choose. After we finally chose two comfortable armchairs, the waitress came over a short while later and took our order.
The coffee and cappuccino we ordered were actually very good, and we were happy that we finally had found a great café nearby. In addition to all kinds of coffee specialties, they also served cakes, sandwiches, and other snacks, and we returned several times during our lunch break over the next few weeks.
